Subway Art

Check out these seasonal printables!

I am in L-O-V-E. I'm really looking forward to matting and framing each of these. That dreamy blue of the winter art may be the only thing that gets me through the cold months of January and February. Mmmm.

That's all for now!

Grady's big adventure!

Matt and I were lucky enough to have some visitors in town this last weekend. We dusted off our host & hostess hats and welcomed Matt's parents and sister to Nashville! We had a great time, but let's not forget about the most important guest of all...

We stepped into our "Uncle Matt and Aunt Lala" shoes for Little Man Grady... A lot of sweet moments came with his arrival to Music City.

Lots of lovin' squeezed into a single weekend...

...from his favorite Aunt and Uncle. (at least until he's old enough to decide for himself)

In the meantime, Nashville has been struck with, might I say, PERFECT fall colors and temperatures. We spent Saturday afternoon perusing the sights and sounds of the Farmers' Market.

Beauty, huh? I love where we live. I love that Matt and I are learning to live and thrive in a city away from the "home" we knew, and making a home of our own. I love that we have a beautiful, exciting city to explore and indulge in together. Although we miss our families (especially Grady boo!) dearly, I love the place in which we've been given to thrive in.

Just to end on a good note, I thought I'd share with you a photograph of the most beautiful little puppy in all of Nashville...sitting pretty waiting on Mama to snap a picture.

Embrace

I'm a Spring and Summer girl.

I love the warm sunlight, the smell of fresh cut grass and chlorine, sundresses, and pedicures.

But Fall is HERE.

Everyone I know is a fall-lover. September 1st hits and they throw up their seasonal decor, make pumpkin bread, and sweat their butts off for the love of cute boots and colorful scarves. All to help usher in their favorite season... And I get it! I really do. I love the colors and smells of Fall. I love boots and scarves and my gray tweed peacoat. I love that ordering my Chai Tea Latte at Starbucks finally makes sense (considering I order it year round, even in the blistering Nashville heat).

I just can't get over what's to come... the dead cold of Winter. From now until April, my hands will always run the risk of freezing solid and falling off my body. I will consistently have 3 pairs of wool socks on. I will have enormously giant loads of laundry due to all the clothes I insist on layering. And Matt will quote his favorite Jeff Foxworthy line every night as I try to snuggle up to him to get warm...

"Man, her butt is ICE COLD! It's like cuddlin' up to a butterball turkey!"

It's funny and endearing now, but come January when all I need is some body heat...

Moving on... I decorated for fall on the eve of October 1st and not a moment sooner. I simply couldn't say goodbye to my sweet summertime...

But I am enjoying the warmth (as in decor, not temperature, I assure you) of our home. The mulled cider candles I have burning all evening long. The chill the mid afternoon holds onto, despite the sun beaming strong all day. I enjoyed my first scarf of the season this morning (and should have remembered my gloves, to be honest).

I'm embracing it...

Certainly not looking forward to temperatures in the teens, scraping ice off my windshield, and the look of my pale, sun-deprived skin.

But embracing Fall, nonetheless.
Our fall table setting... (When I asked to purchase these, I told Matt, "But we don't have fall placemats!" His response, "Yes we do. You leave the Summer ones on the table through the Fall and voila! Fall placemats.")

Our pretty homemade wreath... I love it!

The lace ribbon matched perfectly, and I needed something to "soften" the wreath and set it slightly off-center. (I'm not a symmetry kind of girl). I love how the little rosette turned out!

Our little outdoor area off the kitchen/breakfast nook... I love having another place to put a wreath!

My confederate Jasmine is really taking off!

Happy Fall!

Sincerely,
your flip-flop-and-sundress-wearing Summer girl
